Northern Territory

The Northern Territory is situated in the northern part of Australia, a vast wilderness area which encapsulates Australia’s rugged and spectacular landscapes from escarpment country to the open flood plains; it remains Australia’s last wild frontier.

The Northern Territory harbours an amazing diversity of wildlife and is home to some of the last remaining aboriginal settlements which still practice traditional hunting methods as a form of sustenance.

The Northern Territory is home to some of Australia’s most iconic wildlife species, the plains of the Finniss River harbour a diversity of reptile species including Saltwater Crocodiles, Monitor Lizards, Fresh Water Turtles and an array of Pythons. The mammals make for frequent encounters throughout night and day from agile Wallabies and Dingoes to game species such as Feral Boars and Water Buffalo.

The floodplains make for a spectacular view of waterbird species including Jabiru, Brolga, Magpie Geese, Whistling Ducks and Herons.

Finniss River Station

The Finniss River Station where the outback meets the ocean.

The Finniss River is well known as a popular fishing spot to catch the famous and highly prized Barramundi, but also offers a diverse range of Wildlife species which can be observed all year round. The Finniss River is located approx 130km from Darwin CBD heading south-west towards Litchfield National Park the journey takes roughly 1.5 hours.

Blended with Cattle Farming history and the iconic “Sweetheart the Crocodile” homelands, the Finniss River sets the stage for Outback Adventure.
